Història de l'illa de Castellroig

Illa de la regió d’illes de la mar Egea, al nomós del Dodecanès, Grècia.

   Pertangué a l’orde de Sant Joan de l’Hospital (1306) fins a l’any 1450, que, per ordre del rei Alfons IV de Catalunya-Aragó i amb autorització del pontífex Nicolau V, fou ocupada per l’almirall Bernat de Vilamarí, el qual la convertí en una important base naval d’operacions; hi construí el Castell Alfonsí, on fou col·locat un escut de pedra amb les quatre barres  en senyal de sobirania el 1456; almenys des del 1458, el succeí com a almirall Pere Martorell. Fou la més oriental de les possessions catalanes. Durant el regnat de Joan II, àdhuc durant la guerra civil catalana (1467), fou encara base de les operacions contra àrabs i turcs que duia a terme Bernat de Vilamarí, fill de l’anterior. Ocupada pels turcs el 1522, s’hi mantingueren fins el 1918, que passà a domini italià. Pertany a Grècia des del 1947.

Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on Friday accused Athens of grandstanding over its recent military agreements with France and the United States, while also referring to the Greek island of Kastellorizo as being within swimming distance of Turkey.
